BPDA Telemedicine Center:

BPDA, the professional association of entrepreneurs, is committed to providing legal assistance to regular members of BPDA to practice safely and in compliance with the prevailing laws of the country. However, it is universally accepted that all members of BPDA must show due respect to the profession in accordance with the prevailing laws of the country. We are the first and the only one in Bangladesh to provide safe and uninterrupted practice of regular members of BPDA in the light of BMDC’s Telemedicine Guideline July 2020 in the hope of reaching rural level improved health services at the doorstep of masses through telemedicine as per BMDC and Drug Administration’s prevailing laws. *BMDC Act-2010 spot mentions registered doctors MBBS and BDS in our country. Section-22 of BMDC Act-2010 specifically mentions that allopathy treatment is prohibited without registration. Sub-section-1 Notwithstanding anything contained in any other law, no medical practitioner or dental practitioner shall practice allopathy or hold himself out as a medical practitioner or dental practitioner without registration under this Act.

Recently on 6th April 2023 Medicines and Cosmetics Act 2023 was introduced by Bangladesh National Parliament and gazetted. * In this gazette of 36 pages, 18 pages 40 d. And it is mentioned on page 20 of 34 Over the counter medicines without MBBS and BDS prescription from a registered doctor will be fined not more than 20 thousand rupees. About 60 percent of the people of Bangladesh still face doctors or pharmacy shopkeepers to get primary care.According to the mentioned report, it is impossible to implement the current BMDC medicine administration law if telemedicine services cannot reach the remote areas unofficially. Government of Bangladesh has registered the organization to reach the grassroots level non-governmentally to implement the BMDC and Medicines Administration Act. Keeping in mind the health protection of the public to prevent the misuse of antibiotics, steroids, every rural, paramedics, diploma trainees and senior officials and representatives working in pharmaceutical companies should jointly engage in telemedicine services and maintain business/profession protection in accordance with existing laws. Otherwise complicated legal problems may arise.
